Catherine and her sister Mary (jnr) came to Tasmania with their convicted mother Mary (Snr) on board the Maria 3 in 1842, Mary (snr) was convicted in Fermoy Ireland for stealing a quilt, coat & and a gown. The two girls were also convicted of this offence, but they both were sentenced to 6 & 12 months in prison. Mary(snr) was sentenced to transportation. Mary stated that she was a widow with no relatives, so the girls came with her. On arrival they were put in the Orphanage whilst their mother was sent to the "Anson". Catherine married William Stennard (convict "Moffatt 3") in 1850. William & Catherine had 5 children - Ann Elizabeth (-m-) Joseph Whittaker; Jane Stannard (DNM); Mary (-m-) Wm Henry Linton and Catherine (Kate) (-m-) John Edward Foster (**this is my line). There was also a baby born 3 March 1857 - who was unnamed and probably died as this date was also the date of Catherines death. Catherine is buried at St Mary's Caholic Church in Hobart and was 25 years of age at her death.
