The mother, Bridget Kinneally (shown as Kinnelly in this record) is listed in two hand written female convict departure lists of the Earl Grey which were signed 10th Dec 1849, which arrived Hobart 9th May 1850. I have copies of these lists from the State Library of Queensland. On the double page 13 column list the spelling is Kinneally, and on the single page 4 column list, the spelling is Kinnelly. In comparing the two lists, both entries are in identical position within the other names listed, so it is clear that both entries refer to the same person.
I understand that Michael Kinnelly (aka Kinneally) is Michael John Kinneally who married Ruth Fenton (b 1850 d 1892) in 1868 and had three sons and seven daughters:
361394 – Agnes Louisa Blanch b 16/07/1871
365955 – Selina Rachel b 20/09/1874 m Henry Robert Everett Schrowder (26 yo)05/07/1895 Hobart, Selina was 21 yo.
361317 - Henrietta b 16/11/1887
365956 – Ada Florence b 11/07/1880 m Herbert A. Oliver
364244 – Clara Josephine b 15/11/1882 m Ernest Oscar Berry 1905, Balmain North Sydney(762/1905)
365954 – Ruth Margaret b 30/04/1886 Hobart
365948 – Georgina Rosalie b 08/09/1888 Hobart, (d) 04/01/1889 Hobart
365945 – Albert Michael Athol b 31/03/1891 m Irene Gladys Robinson
I am the oldest of three sons to Albert Michael Athol Kinneally (aka Keanalley), and have met his sisters (my aunties) Ada and Selina when I was a boy/young man. I was born 15th July 1940 when Dad was 49 years old!! His wife, Irene (my mother), was 21 years younger than my father. My two brothers are Jeffrey John (5/5/1942), and Athol Albert (15/8/1944).
Although all the evidence seems clear, we would appreciate any further confirmation/source documentary evidence that this orphan is in fact our grandfather, Michael John Kinneally.
