This orphan has been claimed by: Jenny Beere

Father was Sgt Denis Moynihan born Tralee in Ireland, married Bridget Ryan, a widow at St. Mary's Chapel, in 1845, at Kent. Denis served 24 years in the British Army and he came to Australia as a pensioner guard with two sons onboard the convict ship Rodney. Denis was Overseer of the Ross Female Factory and Bridget was the Matron. Denis died in 1854, his headstone reads he was the father of five children. Three of the five children were admitted to the Orphanage after Bridget remarried to George Metcalfe, a convicted forger who received 10 years transportation to Tasmania. He arrived in 1848 on the Lady Kennaway. After his marriage he was convicted of fraud and sent to Port Arthur, Bridget put three of the Monaghan children into the orphanage, she said she could take care of the oldest child. One child is still unknown.
