This orphan has been claimed by: Research and Publications

Brothers John (Orphan Number 5349), William (#5352) and Francis (# 5347) Thorpe all entered the orphanage after their mother Sarah died in 1833. They are the children of Francis Thorp, a soldier with the 48th Regiment who came out as a guard on board the convict ship 'BARING' wih his first wife Sarah, landing at Port Jackson in 1819.

The 48th Regiment later moved to Van Diemen's Land.

The three boys had two older sisters who didn't enter the orphanage; Elizabeth Thorp who was born at sea in 1819 and my 4x Great Grandmother Mary Magdalen Thorp who was born in New South Wales in 1821.

William born: 7 December 1823 in New South Wales.
Francis born: 5 November 1828 in Hobart Town.
John born: 17 June 1831 in Hobart Town.

Their father Francis later married Hannah Sullivan who had further children.
