Our Aims
The Friends of the Orphan Schools, St John's Park
Precinct was formed in December 2007 under the umbrella
of the National Trust in Tasmania to highlight the
importance of this significant heritage site and ensure
its preservation and conservation.
The group aims to:
- Raise awareness of the historical, architectural,
social, cultural and archaeological significance of the
precinct and the need for conservation
- Conduct and support research into the history and
heritage significance of the site
- Encourage the development of a Conservation
Management Plan
- Successfully list the precinct on the National
Heritage Register as a place of "outstanding heritage
value to the Nation."
