Jane Cook was the daughter of Mary Ann Cook. Jane was born 1849 at Cascades where her mother was an inmate. Mary Ann had another daughter, Elizabeth Coook in 1847.
Mary Ann was born in Armagh, Northern Ireland and was transported to VDL in the 1840s. She was also used the following surnames: Gardner, Dance and Ellis. Between 1857 and 1861 Mary Ann had three children with William Dudley Dance; William, Martha and Edward. She then had a relationship with a William Ellis.
It appears that Jane turned to crime, including prositution.
