Philip Davis was my husband's great grandfather. After his mother Alice Dwyer died he was sent to the Queens Orphan School with his brother John and sister Mary in 1860. He married Elizabeth Aram at Longford on 18 December 1877.  

He had 6 children with her:  

  • Eva Ida (Edwards) (my husband's grandmother) 17/9/1891 at Kings Meadows, Launceston
  • Ernest John Marlow Davis 30 August 1884 at Franklin Village, Launceston
  • Eliza May (Betts) 1 August 1878  at Breadalbane.
  • Adeline Matilda (Hibbs) 10 March 1888 at Youngtown, Launcestson
  • Alice Maud (Phillips) 12 August 1885 at Youngtown, Launceston.
  • Phiip William Davis 18 November 1880 at Strathroy - not married.  He died aged 31 on 2 November 1911 and is buried with his mother at Carr Villa Cemetery

He also had 6 half siblings from Elizabeth's 1st marriage to William Wyndham Barton:

  • Amelia (Minny) Barton (Baylis) 12 August 1875 at Breadalbane.
  • Auguustin Albert Barton 16 August 1873 at Longford he was married to Miss Shott.
  • William Thomas Barton 20 February 1868 at Longford (twin) (he was married 3 times)
  • George Barton 20 February 1868 at Longford (twin)
  • two sisters who died.

Philip Davis (senior) was the "boots" at the "Cocked Hat Inn" at Breadalbane just out of Launceston. He died 6 June 1937 and is buried at Carr Villa Cemetery, Launceston.
