Ann Devlin is my 2nd great grandmother. Her mother Bridget nee Moran was transported for coining and her three children, Ann, Catherine and Francis, were placed in the orphanage. Ann married a free immigrant from Denmark John Anton Sloan who went to the gold fields to find a fortune. He did not. In 1875 they left Sandhurst with five children. Their new home was at 12 Provost Street, North Melbourne. John died aged 55 in an accident at Melbourne's Spencer St Station in 1890 where he worked as a labourer. ann remained in melbourne Catherine also went to the goldfields were she also married. Annie lived another 25 years after John died. She passed of pneumonia aged 75 in 1915 at 12 Provost Street. Their daughter Rachel married William Henry Winch Jnr and had 3 children, one being my grandmother.
