Alexander Foster junior is my great, great grandmother's brother. He came to Van Diemen's Land from County Antrim, Ireland at six years of age with his convict father, Alexander Foster senior, on the Prince Regent in 1842. At eight years of age he was apprenticed to Mr W Carter of New Town, Hobart.
His mother, Margaret, and sisters, Roseanna, Jane and Susanna, arrived from Ireland a few years later. The family eventually resided at O'Brien's Bridge (Glenorchy). Unfortunately, nothing is known about Alexander junior after he was apprenticed as a boy to Mr Carter.
