Surname spelled Griffen - William, Mary and Margaret arrived with their mother Margaret Griffen on the Hope, transported with father (Daniel, named as David in the records, transported on the Richard Webb). Daniel and Margaret lived in Rathkeale Co Limerick and were traders. Margaret (the other) married another convict Barnett when Daniel died, and was sentanced to four months hard labour for being caught with him in her bed, and in 1848, was sentanced again to four years penal servitude for recieving 50 yards of cloth.

Mary GRIFFIN married John PRATT on 22 July 1850, at the time Mary was under age. They had a daughter Maria Ellen baptised at St David's Church on 05 June 1851.  John Pratt died 22 Nov 1851, and was buried at Hill St (Wesleyan Methodist) burial ground.  The details recorded include that he was 28, died of consumption, occupation tailor, of Bathurst St.  The widow Mary married John Thomas WHITE, William Barnett and Jane Campbell White witnessed the marriage. John and Mary White shifted to Melbourne, where they had a large family born in the suburbs of Williamstown and Footscray, before shifting to Geelong about 1871. Mary died on 27 Feb 1914 at Geelong.
