Elizabeth was the second child of William and Judith Kelly (nee Cahir).
Their other children included brothers David, William, James and John
and sisters Ann, Mary, Catherine and Eliza.
Her parents were convicts who were transported (separately) to
Tasmania. They were from Queens County Ireland, and had been convicted for
stealing wheat (William) and potatoes (Judith).
Elizabeth was taken from her parents in Tasmania and sent to the
orphanage. At 14, she was apprenticed, eventually to William Fowler
This information was discovered and shared by a descendent of her sister, Mary.
