Ellen Logan / Loughlan's mother (Ellen Loughlan born 1802 Co. Galway, Ireland ) drowned in the Derwent River at New Norfolk, Tasmania, Australia, on 12 April 1850. She had been in the Colony of Van Diemen's land only 6 months. She was thrown from an overturned cart, down a very steep bank into the Derwent River.

Ellen Logan (b 1842 Co. Galway, Ireland ) came out as a child with her mother Ellen Loughlan on the convict ship Australasia. She married / defacto to Edward FROUD about 1870 Colebrook Tasmania, and died 1913 Carlton, Victoria, Australia.

She had 3 surviving children:
Edward Francis FROUD - 1871 - 1933 Hobart,Tas (defacto Elizabeth FROUD -cousin )

William John FROUD - 1875 - 1955 Hobart, Tas (m Louisa Jane BERRY - 1911)
Ellen Jane FROUD - 1877- 1939 Victoria, Aus. (m Wm James O'DONOGUE - 1897)
