John was born 1 Dec 1819, and Christened 20 Dec 1819 under the name Wilson, as his mother Sarah Wilson was unmarried at the time. John Marney was the actual father, and married Sarah 28 May 1821 in Hobart. They had another 11 children, and three of these were alive when John junior was sent to the orphan school.
John was an articled seaman, and died at sea 2 Mar 1850.
