Charles Bleeze (the son of Mary Bleeze) arrived in Hobart Town with his mother in 1831 and was sent to the Queen's Orphanage in Hobart Town. He rented a farm of 20 acres at Culloden Point from Anne Mead of Sandy Bay (VR58, 62). He also rented a house and farm of 40 acres from Matthew Fitzpatrick at Port Cygnet (VR62). He is listed as a farmer living at Port Cygnet in 1867 (MDT). Children of Charles Bleeze and Bridget Madden: John (1856), Mary (1858) and Patrick (1861-1945). Mary Bleeze (aged 22) married Roderick Fitzpatrick from Franklin (aged 35) in 1879. Charles Bleeze died in Hobart in 1904, aged 77 (death notice Mercury). Bridget Bleeze died in Hobart in 1899, aged 69

Charles is the first born  son of Charles Bleeze, and Mary Walker Bleeeze. She married Thomas Wilken Cowen, my 5th generation Grand Father.  Mary was sent to Van Diemans Land as a convict for stealing from Nottingham on the 14th July 1830. She had her 5 year old son with her.  They arrived here on the America on the 9th May 1831. We found this information on the site called Founders and Survivors.

Mary later married Thomas Cowen,  who was also sent here as a convict.

Charles Bleeze later in life became a baker at Port Cygnet. He married Bridget Maddon, they had a son by the name of Patrick Bleeze.  We have found the resting place of Bridget and Patrick at Cornelian Bay cemetery, but we have not been able to locate the resting place of Charles, we know he died in Hobart.

Charles Bleeze

His mother, Mary Cowen
