Rebecca Elizabeth Miller was born Dorchester, Dorset, England in 1846. Baptised 14th August 1846 (as Elizabeth Rebecca) at All Saints parish, listing Ann as a single mother. In 1851 census, Rebecca is listed at age 6 along with great grandmother Rebecca Miller (aged 84) at St. Peter's, Dorchester. Her great grandmother died the same year in 1851 and the following year arrived in Tasmania with her mother on the Duchess of Northumberland.
