Frances, born in 1835, was the daughter of Catherine Bottom. She married Benjamin Smith in Hobart in 1862 and they settled in Benjamin's home town of Bothwell. In 1870, the family packed up and moved to Goulds Country becoming one of the pioneer families in the district. Frances died in 1903 in Ross from cancer.
