Robert PHIMESTER (Phinister) left the orphanage on 13 September 1853 when he was returned to his mother, Mary Murray, after her marriage to David Nesbitt (aka Peter Allen). The family moved to Dunedin, New Zealand after the parents received their freedom. Mary and Peter returned to their life of crime but young Robert set out on his own and became a successful businessman, owning and driving coaches and hansom cabs, and buying and renting out many houses.
