Henry Quarmby/Quamby  or Taylor is my great grandfather, he married Agnes Sullivan.

I am not related to Henry Quamby, but have an interest in the family through my research of World War 1 soldiers and their family histories.

The things that interest me about this family is that three of Henry Quarmby/Quamby/Taylor's sons would end up being placed in care also.

He married Agnes Sullivan who had come from a similar background who had also spent much of her childhood in care after the death of her mother.

Henry Quarmby told authorities that he could not look after his sons, feeling that he lacked the parenting skills necessary for the task and begged the authorities to take his sons into care.  It was only after they got into trouble with the law that they were removed from his care.

His three sons - John Thomas who was killed at the landing at Gallipoli, Henry Lawrence (who also enlisted under and alias) and Colin Leslie who served with the Australian Army and later British Army in Russia.
