William Rhodes 12, younger brother Richard 8 and sister Honora 4 became orphans after their mother died in childbirth one afternoon in January 1859. The sadness and sorrow the children must have felt at this time, their father died 3 years earlier, and no one to look after them. The family came from Port Cygnet. Reading their admission papers Jan 1859 and beyond indicates a sum of money from their fathers land was in trust with the School Guardian, I wonder if they ever saw their inheritance.
Honora died a few months after 'admission' of whooping cough - another tragedy for William and Richard.
William was apprenticed to AB Jones of Bleak House. Trove artcle where he absconded was later detained and forced to return to serve his remaining time.
I wonder what ever became of William and Richard.......
