Sarah Ann Tomney (under the name Kemp) turned up in Victoria as the daughter of Roseanne nee Mooney (by then Merrifield). Roseanne was a confederate of Teresa Tomney's on the Sea Queen and it is not as yet known why she 'adopted' the child, why Teresa gave her up, and exactly when they left for Victoria and the gold fields. Sarah Ann married John Jenkins from Cornwall in Majorca in 1865 after having already borne him one child. She went on to have 14 more, including my great grandfather Edward Charles Jenkins 1873 - 1949.
