James was discharged from the Orphan School to his father Edward on February 29, 1860. Sadly he died on May 1, 1861 at Kingston. His father Edward also died at Kingston on November 4 of the same year. His occupation was a constable and the inquest found his death was caused by excessive drinking.
His mother Mary went on to have a son David in 1864 and daughter Lucy in 1865 with William Edward Turfrey. Her son Charles Wells, who was surrended to the orphan school at the same time as James, went to live with them.
Mary and William married in 1876 and are my 4x great-grandparents.
