Henry Whelan as named in the Orphan School Register I believe could be Henry Barry. Henry's mother Ellen Collins/Collery was married to a Michael Barry but Michael died at Sea. Michael was a Military Pensioner although his rank etc is not known and was travelling on board the ship Eliza in 1849 along with the Whelans and Haydens. It is known that Ellen and Michael had three children, Margaret and Michael but it has never been established the name of the third child. When Ellen arrived with her children she then married John Whelan who also died shortly after her next two children, Walter and John, were born. Walter and John were also placed in the Orphan School. Ellen later went on to marry Geroge Charles Montressor and had four more children.
The fact that Ellen was a Whelen when she placed Henry in the Orphanage it may have been presumed that Henry too was a Whelan.
