Elizabeth Wright is my great-great-great grandmother. She married William Gleeson (a convict) in Longford in 1847 and had 4 children. They moved to Victoria in about 1850. I can find no record of her death.

Hello Denise. I think you may well be right about Eliza having married William Gleeson (also my great-great-grandfather) in Longford in 1847. The following two items match nicely.

Eliza also had a sister Martha, who entered the orphanage at the same time in December 1835. We are interested in how these girls came to be in the Queen's Orphanage.Their mother is listed as dead and the fees were paid by a Mr Stokell. I am assuming this to be the Mr George Stokell, MP. Does anyone know if it was common for Mr Stokell to pay fees for these children and, if so, under what circumstances? Any help would be appreciated. So heart-warming to know that these unfortunate children have not been forgotten. Susan, NZ
