James has been incorrectly listed under the surname Clann. The correct name was Glann. The surname seems to be one which is easily altered even when typed. I have even found it spelt Flann.
His father was John Glann a convict born in Nottingham England, who arrived in Tasmania on the 'Equestrian' and married Martha Morgan ( 13.8.1851 ) who was also a convict arriving on the 'Lloyd'.
His mother died 19.8.1860 aged 39y and his father was murdered 12.3.1861 aged 40y.
James married 2.7.1878 Emily Jones and worked at Glenleith Estate Plenty for more than 51 years and died 22.4.1949. He and Emily had 11 children between 1877 and 1899.
He had the following siblings William George /George William who married Louisa Jane Coker, William Mark who died in 1853 and Walter who died aged 11 as a result of a kick from a horse. There was also a female born 29.12.1850 but I have found no trace of her.
My husbands Great Great Grandfather Mark Glann was the brother of John Glann the convict.
